Bushkazi is the traditional game played in Afghanistan involving teams of pony-mounted players competing for a headless calf carcass - the original forerunner of the more genteel game of Polo.

The game was banned by the Taliban, this was one of the first matches taking place after the capture of Mazar-i-Sharif by the Northern Alliance in 2001.
