finally we are plastering the house, the end is in sight!

Paulo, a Plasterer / Sound Engineer is helping with the plasterboarding. The rooms are beginning to look habitable at last, and with the central heating already working and the electrics nearly completed the house is beginning to look like a real home after all those years...

 

In this photo Paulo is working upstairs in what will be the living room - the end wall will remain bare stone.


 

We are lining the chimney so that we can have a stove in the main fireplace - it won't be used that often since the Heat Pump will provide most of the heating, but the flue and fireplace are already there, and a wood-burning stove is a cheap and practical heating system for back-up.


 

Soon we will be able to begin planning the kitchen units;


 

 

Meanwhile, Carol was in Kenya working on the Post-Election Violence response. She set up Seed and Tool distribution fairs where people who would otherwise miss the planting season were able to re-equip themselves to plant their lands in time to ensure a harvest later.

Many of these people were still living in camps, afraid to go home because militia / death-squads were still attacking them - even inside the camps after dark, despite (or perhaps due to) the police presence...
