The Salang Tunnel. This photo taken inside the entrance of the Salang Pass atapprox 3500m altitude. The tunnel was blown up during the civil war following the Russian withdrawal. This section near the entrance had collapsed and was still being cleared of explosives and rubble. There was no lighting within the 2 km of the tunnel, the truck ahead had been clearing rubble from inside the tunnel.
